Chapter 1548: Chapter 1555: Apology (2)
Her face turned red, she broke free from the man’s embrace and hummed softly, "This time you got lucky! Just you wait and see how I deal with you when I get back!"
After speaking, she raised her chin arrogantly and said, "I’m not watching anymore. All that babbling is truly dull. I’m leaving!"
Wanyan Jingchen immediately followed her, saying, "Alright, let’s head to Jingyang County Manor. The sooner we go and return, the less worried Imperial Father and Mother will be."
After finishing, he held her hand and went downstairs.
Downstairs, Mo Zili saw them walking down together hand in hand. Initially planning to avoid them, his gaze fell upon Xiang Yun the moment she came into view, and he couldn’t tear his eyes away.
She was exceptionally beautiful today. Her round, glowing face carried a genuine and sweet smile, as her brows lifted into a crescent moon shape. Her delicate crimson lips parted and closed continuously, chatting without pause, making the man beside her twitch his mouth with amusement, trying hard to suppress a laugh.
She wore a playful purple-bottomed short jacket embroidered with cinnamon rabbit patterns, paired with a moon-white skirt adorned with bright moon lotus ponds and swirling wave motifs. Her hair was styled in a high bun, accessorized with two exquisitely crafted violet jade phoenix hairpins, and her ears were adorned with matching violet jade earrings, perfectly complementing her outfit with striking harmony.
Violet jade...
Mo Zili’s heart twisted. Such jewelry, he also had a set of it in his residence. Back then, he had poured his heart and soul into acquiring them at great expense, yet now he feared that there would never be an opportunity to gift them to her...
When Xiang Yun passed beside him, there was a fleeting moment in which he was worried she might recognize him. Yet deep in his heart, he held onto a faint and conflicting hope that she would notice him, that she would say something to him—anything. Even if just one cold remark, it would sound as melodious as Buddha’s sermon to him, as it had been months since he had heard her voice, months since their last interaction...
However, she walked right past him, not sparing him even a glance. Though they were only separated by four or five steps, though he sat openly in plain sight, from beginning to end, she didn’t look his way, not even once. Let alone seeing him. Let alone speaking to him.
Her shimmering eyes, like pools of water, remained fixed on Wanyan Jingchen, as though her entire world revolved around him, leaving no room for anyone else!
Mo Zili watched helplessly as she cheerfully left with that man...
He took one step forward, wanting to call out to her, but the words stuck in his throat. He gave a self-deprecating laugh, a laugh which shattered and faded, leaving pain to spread through his chest. His heart, already riddled with wounds, felt as though it was being slowly and crudely carved apart by a dull blade, a pain so excruciating his face turned pale...
He held his head in agony and silently sat in the corner. He remained seated there for hours, like a soulless sculpture, cold to the core...
...
Xiang Yun followed Wanyan Jingchen, joyfully arriving at Jingyang County Manor.
The manor, once a royal prince’s mansion, was massive and grand. The three-room, five-frame structure had large crimson-colored doors, with a plaque painted in black and gold displaying the words "Jingyang County Manor" in bold characters. In front of the manor’s gate was a platform as wide as the three-room structure, and underneath the platform stood two stone lions. The gate towered even higher than the platform, and one had to ascend the steps before entering the main entrance, flanked by East and West corner gates on either side.
The young couple entered the grand gate, while Xiang Yun started looking around eagerly, exploring and marveling at every sight. As she wandered, she remarked with amazement, "Oh, this is so beautiful! It seems even more magnificent than your Crown Prince Mansion!"
Despite living in the palace, Wanyan Jingchen also owned a mansion outside—a Crown Prince Mansion which was splendid and imposing. However, the couple had only stayed there for one or two nights before the Emperor and Empress called them back to the palace. They couldn’t bear to have their son living so far away, separated by numerous walls. As a result, the Crown Prince Mansion had been left empty, with no one to inhabit it.
