Chapter 909: Chapter 909: Observation
Sitting in the office, Ji Yang offered a cigarette to Lu Weiming. Their relationship was considered quite good now.
Under Lu Weiming’s guidance, Ji Yang was completely familiar with the work processes, now considered a qualified staff member.
“Brother Lu, why don’t you go down there to work? With your situation, you could surely get a position,” Ji Yang asked with a smile.
Blowing a smoke ring, Lu Weiming sighed and said, “I’ve thought about it. Actually, there were such opportunities more than once. But I’m scared. You’ve probably noticed my personality—I’m just not the type to vie for power with others. Given my situation, I might be able to get a deputy position at the county level, but once there, if I can’t compete with those people, I might just fall in that place.”
Ji Yang nodded to himself. This carefree Lu Weiming sometimes acted on his own thoughts. Once he was in a local position, things might really turn out as he said.
Lu Weiming continued, “If I got ousted down there, I wouldn’t have a chance to come back. Returning to the Capital City would be difficult. You don’t know, both my father and I grew up and worked here in the Capital City. I have a deep affection for this place, and I certainly don’t want to lose the ability to come back here for good.”
This is a person without ambition!
Ji Yang understood clearly that this Lu Weiming had no aspirations, possibly another reason why he had been able to work here for so long. Nobody needed to guard against him, nor did he fight for anything.
Having understood his situation, Ji Yang didn’t bother to say any further words of persuasion.
“Ji, I’ve been observing you for a while. You’re a very capable person, and you’re also quite clever. With your situation, I believe you can go far. Here, you just need to work with your heart, and when the time comes, you’ll be able to move up. If you can secure a section chief position here, getting a deputy county-level position when you go down isn’t out of the question.”
Ji Yang felt stirred, something he hadn’t thought about before. He had always planned to go down to the grassroots and develop there. Lu Weiming was right; even as a small cadre in the organization department, he could be very well utilized when he went down — securing a deputy county-level position was entirely possible. Even better development here might lead directly to a deputy municipal level when going down, wouldn’t that complete the tasks?
Having these thoughts, Ji Yang felt that some of his plans needed to change; he didn’t necessarily have to go down.
There were some contacts here. If they could help him, maybe he could really rise up.
Recently, Ji Yang had been observing Zeng Xiaoyan but hadn’t noticed anything special nor anyone approaching her. With no progress on her side for now, his attention needed to shift to others.
Right, that section chief was someone he could focus on observing.
Previously, in preparation for the relegation, Ji Yang devoted most of his energy to that matter but now realized he had somewhat strayed, using grassroots thinking to consider problems.
It seems he needed to focus more on the organization department.
Thinking about the organization department, Ji Yang found that almost all the women here were connected to some kind of power. Even if not directly involved with a power faction, they were related somehow. Facing such abundant resources, Ji Yang felt there was ample potential for him.
Initially, Ji Yang aimed to establish a network circle here, but later, focusing solely on being dispatched elsewhere, he neglected these matters.
