Chapter 260: Chapter 258: A GOOD MEAL
When they entered the restaurant, fortunately, it wasn’t filled to the brim, and they found an empty table for four.
Accompanied by a shy waitress who kept on stealing peeks at Diamond, the four were welcomed warmly and nicely.
As soon as they were seated, the shy waitress did her best to serve them.
Diamond being herself and feeling a bit playful upon seeing how she had been receiving stares, some of them a bit more excited than the rest. Making her remember that she was someone with millions of followers, and could be considered a star of some sort.
She decided to give her fans some content to brag about and, at the same time, just have fun.
So, when it was her time to order, Ruby facepalmed upon seeing her sister being mischievous again.
Even the waitress who received the order confirmed twice just to make sure before leaving with a dumbfounded expression.
Seeing the shy waitress turning into a confused one, Ruby glared at her sister and asked helplessly, "sister, are you having fun?"
"Um. I am. What’s the point of living without enjoyment?" Diamond answered with a grin as she sat in a lay-back position.
Seeing her sister like that, she could only massage her throbbing temples.
"Fine. Enjoy yourself!" Ruby said, giving up as she felt the stares directed towards them.
’I think I will be famous by tomorrow!’ she could only lament, but the smile on her face meant something else.
While they waited for their food to arrive, Diamond, under Garnet’s suggestions, posed for some photos. And when they were done, the four of them took a look at them and they found which were better than the others.
Unfortunately, all of them were so good that none of the photos were discarded.
Finally, the food arrived and when Diamond’s dishes were placed in front of her with a small dish of warm water and a drying towel, even the neighbors sitting next to their tables couldn’t help but take a look at them.
The shock, surprise and disbelief in their eyes were enough to show just how much a shock Diamond had given others.
The restaurant was located in the school district, which was filled with students, and students going to such schools were known to live large.
In fact, some of them lived fake lives, and they even forgot their roots. So mostly in restaurants, most meals also represented that kind of life which wasn’t bad.
But then there was Diamond who, whenever she gets a chance to have a traditional meal, even when she is in a famous restaurant. As long as it’s available on the menu, she tends to surprise people.
"Is she going to eat that with so many people?" Eugene asked doubtfully with a hint of worry on her face as she looked at Diamond while sensing the hot gazes on their table.
It wasn’t like Diamond was about to eat some strange food. It was food that even she at home ate a lot, but it was also the kind that when she was at school; she pretended as if it didn’t exist.
Not many students loved eating it. They preferred luxurious and fancy meals to the kind Diamond was having.
Ruby smiled helplessly at Eugene before answering, "She loves these kinds of meals the most. Even at home, we have them at least two to three times a week," revealing how a huge fan Diamond was when it comes to traditional food.
Eugene was shocked when she heard that. She couldn’t help but ask curiously, attracting the attention of a fan who was holding herself pretty well at the next table, "She has so much money. So why should she eat these?"
With so much money, wouldn’t it make sense to eat expensive dishes which cost thousands than eating like normal people?
If she was rich, she would only eat in those high-end restaurants and live large. But when she looked at Diamond, if it wasn’t for the car and her skin, which screamed to be living well, she wouldn’t even guess that the family was loaded.
Even the clothes they were wearing. She had never seen them before. Especially the ones Diamond was wearing. Besides, with her wearing shorts like Ruby’s and a T-shirt which had a strange design at the back, how could she even tell that she was rich?
But how could Eugen understand the world of the rich?
If she were to ask Ruby what Diamond was wearing, she would be coughing out blood. After all, Diamond ever since she became rich, she had only worn labels. Whether they were local or foreign ones?
Even the ones who weren’t much known but very expensive. She owned a few pieces. That’s how loaded she was. Unfortunately, only a few people could see that.
And that was the case for the hidden fan, whose ear was listening attentively to the conversation at Diamond’s table.
Ruby, recalling what her sister always preached about, something that had touched her and made her humble despite being rich by association, smiled as she replied to Eugene.
"Sister once told me that just because we are richer than others, doesn’t make us more special. Especially being so special and conceited that we forget our roots. We grew up eating these and so did our parents and past generations. So why pretend and adopt other exotic diets and dishes when ours are good enough?"
Diamond, who had finished washing her well-manicured hands, looked at Ruby and gave her a satisfied smile, obviously happy that she remembered her words perfectly.
She didn’t want her sister to be conceited just because there was money. Who knows if everything would go sour in the future and everything. She has disappeared with it as if it were some witchcraft business.
Although it was fine showing off now and then, it shouldn’t be to the extent where people forget where they came from. Humility is a virtue and trait that every single being should have.
Money can be earned, but it can also be lost in a matter of seconds. And the process is much faster as well.
"Stop yapping! Let’s eat before the food gets cold. We still need to return home!" Diamond urged the girls with a smile.
Upon hearing that, Ruby flashed a smile at her sister before picking up her fork and pulling her plate to her side.
Diamond, seeing the siblings starting eating, also didn’t delay as she started eating her food, which was pap, fried vegetables and beef stew.
That was the closest she could find to what she wanted to eat on the menu. So, she was glad to eat it. After all, it’s been a couple of days since she ate pap.
Whenever she was eating pap, rather than using cutlery, Diamond preferred using the original method of eating, which was to use one’s hands and eat like an ancient.
And that was exactly what she did.
