Chapter 1000: Chapter 970: The Arrest of Bobet
The room was in chaos, and the lead agent immediately rushed in with his team. They pulled the guy out from under the covers, and to their surprise, there was a blonde beauty hidden beneath as well. As they acted, the blonde beauty immediately screamed, "Ah, help!"
"Damn it, what do you want!" the man in the blankets exclaimed in shock.
"Hmph, Mr. Bobert, the President wants to see you!" The lead agent, his face covered, had a hint of a calm smile in his eyes as he looked at Bobert and said, "But first, why don’t you explain who this woman is?"
"Don’t, don’t do anything rash!" At the mention of the woman beside him, Bobert was instantly dumbstruck, his gaze somewhat shifty. It was obvious there was something he was hiding. The agent sneered, "Since you won’t say, you can explain slowly after meeting the President!"
"Keynes, I know it’s you!" Bobert sighed and said, "Well, I won’t say much. I know I’ve made a mistake this time, but I hope you can show some mercy!"
Keynes was slightly taken aback that Bobert had called out his name. Given their former working relationship, he smiled mildly and shook his head, saying, "I’m sorry, this time the President personally ordered your arrest!"
"Ah?!" Bobert was stunned. He turned to look at the blonde beside him. The blonde was wearing a robe; the two of them had just experienced a passionate encounter, so she was sleeping quite deeply. Seeing Bobert staring at her, she frowned and turned her head away. Wasn’t it clear he was trying to cause her trouble by looking at her now? Seeing the blonde ignoring him, Bobert could only get up and follow them.
Bobert’s heart was in turmoil, and he was constantly trying to find a way to exonerate himself, yet he still had no clue why he had been caught. The blonde was a spy for the Church Court, sent to sway Bobert. If the Ottawa Government aligned with the Church Court, then their next target would be the United States. As a superpower, the Church Court also realized the geographical importance of the United States.
Bobert was captured by the agents and taken to the President’s Mansion with a hood over his head. Obama and Ye Chen were sitting in the conference room, along with some other ministers. These were all Obama’s confidants. Ye Chen was able to sit there only because he helped Obama uncover this traitor.
"Mr. President, Bobert is here!" the assistant hurriedly came up to report.
"Hmm, bring this guy in for me!" Obama immediately commanded.
"Yes!" Then, Bobert was immediately brought in by the agents, along with the woman in the robe. Obama was surprised by the woman’s presence and asked suspiciously, "Who is this person?"
"Mr. President, she was brought in from Bobert’s bed!" Keynes hurriedly replied.
"Investigate her identity, as detailed as possible. Ideally, check her recent entry and exit records!" Ye Chen immediately ordered.
Keynes was taken aback, turning to Obama, since Ye Chen wasn’t the president. Obama nodded and said, "Go ahead, do as Mr. Ye instructed!"
"Yes!" Keynes immediately nodded.
Sweat beaded on Bobert’s forehead, and he was so frightened that he was starting to lose his composure. If the blonde’s identity was uncovered, then he wouldn’t be able to escape involvement, and he might get caught up, so he was very scared and very afraid. He feared getting implicated; he dreaded the things he had done.
"Bobert, tell us honestly, do you have any connection with the Church Court?" Obama asked sternly.
"No, Mr. President, that’s impossible!" Bobert quickly shook his head, then looked at Ye Chen beside him, gritting his teeth, "You can’t distrust your subordinates because of a foreign kid."
Seeing Bobert’s intense reaction, Obama hesitated, turned to look at Ye Chen, his eyes full of doubt. Ye Chen smiled calmly, "If it were me, I wouldn’t admit it either. Mr. President, will you suspend the interrogation because he won’t confess?"
"No, I’m just thinking, what if we wronged Bobert, what then?" Obama smiled mildly, "Bobert is my confidant. If we wrong him, how would he see me in the future?"
Obama was indeed clever, first clearing himself of all responsibility in front of Bobert. And if Bobert was truly innocent, he would only resent Ye Chen and never blame Obama. Ye Chen smiled understandingly and said, "If Mr. Bobert is wronged, I am willing to kneel and plead guilty; but if Mr. Bobert is not wronged, I hope the President won’t obstruct our Sunset City project in Ottawa!"
Obama hesitated slightly and then immediately nodded. The priorities were clear; if it indeed turned out that Bobert colluded with the Church Court, then everything would align with what Ye Chen said. The Church Court wanted to target the United States, then with Ye Chen’s Sunset City in North America, the US shouldn’t fall victim so quickly. Obama smiled calmly, "Mr. Ye, don’t worry, if it’s really found Bobert has issues, not only will I not stop you from building the city, I’ll help you build it!"
Soon, Obama continued to interrogate Bobert, but unfortunately, Bobert stubbornly refused to admit anything. Meanwhile, the blonde remained silent, refusing to speak. As Deputy Director of Intelligence, Bobert was well-aware of many interrogation techniques, so he had a very strong mental fortitude. Without absolute evidence, he absolutely couldn’t admit his guilt.
"Since you won’t admit it, I’ll show you the evidence!" Ye Chen smiled calmly. He showed Bobert the evidence he was holding, which detailed the specific times and places of Bobert’s contact with the Church Court. Bobert, upon seeing this, gasped in shock, not expecting that they had been watching him all along. Bobert felt a wave of frustration; he shouldn’t have been so careless, how could he have used his phone to contact the Church Court? So foolish.
Soon, the results of Keynes’ investigation came out. That blonde woman was indeed a person from the Church Court, and her recent entry and exit records were extraordinarily frequent. The woman’s passport was Italian. So, it was basically determined that she was from the Church Court. Facing such ironclad evidence, Bobert could only admit his collusion with the Church Court. Obama was furious; he originally thought Bobert was innocent, but unexpectedly, this bastard had indeed colluded with the Church Court and even had dealings. In response, Obama was extremely angry, gritting his teeth, and shouted in anger, "You bastard, I’ll kick you to death!"
Obama was originally a hot-tempered person. Just now, he was pleading for Bobert, and now he just confessed. This made Obama lose face in front of everyone. Bobert, tearfully, said, "Your Excellency, President, I... I was helpless. My family was controlled by the Church Court. They went to Italy for a trip, but they never returned. Later, I received a notice from the Church Court... it turns out... my family was controlled by them!"
"So you betrayed your country, so you betrayed your people, didn’t you?" Obama gritted his teeth and said.
"No, no, I was helpless!" Bobert hurriedly shook his head.
"Helpless? Yet, I saw you enjoying the benefits of the Church Court just the same!" Obama coldly looked at the similar blonde woman and said, "I didn’t expect you to collude with their people; you have truly disappointed me!"
"No, I was really helpless!" Bobert exclaimed.
"Someone, take Bobert away for me!" Obama said angrily, "Await trial by the court!"
"Yes!" Keynes immediately took Bobert away, and the blonde woman was also taken away. Obama was full of fire and had nowhere to vent it, feeling somewhat helpless. This time, he believed Bobert, believing that Bobert’s family was controlled by the Church Court; otherwise, with Bobert’s personality, he couldn’t possibly betray himself. Thinking of this, Obama felt very puzzled again.
Ye Chen watched coldly from the side. As for Obama’s actions, he somewhat understood. Now taking Bobert away and announcing the dismissal of Bobert’s duties is, in some degree, protection for Bobert. As long as Bobert is not in that position, then the Church Court has no use for him. That being the case, they will inevitably choose to release people. Of course, it is also possible for the Church Court to kill Bobert’s entire family. Obama had no choice but to do so; even if they killed Bobert’s entire family, he couldn’t betray the country’s interests.
"Mr. Ye, what do you think of what I did?" Obama turned to look at Ye Chen.
"Very good!" Ye Chen nodded; he saw it all. Obama sighed and said, "I didn’t expect the forces of the Church Court to have infiltrated my United States unnoticed."
"So, Your Excellency, President, you have only two choices!" Ye Chen seriously looked at Obama and said, "Either choose to fight against the Church Court to the end or choose to submit to the Church Court!"
"Then what do you think I should choose?" Obama smiled and looked at Ye Chen.
"Of course, fight to the end!" Ye Chen chuckled and said, "Once you submit to the Church Court, then many affairs in the United States will have to be reported to the Church Court. I absolutely do not believe that Americans with their pride would allow an outsider to interfere with America’s affairs!"
"Hmm, yes!" Obama nodded and then smiled, "But now that the Church Court is so powerful, how should we resist?"
"Stop its spread!" Ye Chen gritted his teeth and said, "I believe that the United States has a very important position in the United Nations. To stop the spread of the Church Court, we must gain the consent of the United Nations. We must label the Church Court as a cult. Understand?"
"That is also a method!" Obama nodded and then said, "I’ll try my best!"
Obama chose to fight against the Church Court to the end, so the next day he rushed to New York, heading to the United Nations to apply to the Secretary-General for a world United Nations conference. With the permanent member state, the United States, applying, plus China’s consent, the United Nations conference quickly began preparation.
Meanwhile, Ye Chen flew directly to Ottawa to continue the matters related to city building. The Ottawa government struggled to cope with the rapid changes in the United States. Just a moment ago, they were determined to resist the Heavenly Reversal Gang, and suddenly they were asked to fully support Ottawa. The Ottawa government gritted their teeth and decided not to obey the United States’ order.
"Brother Chen, these dogs won’t comply!" Da Hei said angrily.
"Of course they won’t comply!" Ye Chen chuckled and said, "If they would comply, they wouldn’t be Ottawa controlled by the Church Court."
"Then... what should we do?" Da Hei urgently asked.
"Take it slow. Now that the United States doesn’t stop us, this is a major progress!" Ye Chen smiled calmly and said, "Start with the people of the Ottawa government, take it one step at a time!"
"Okay!" Da Hei gritted his teeth.
