Chapter 354: Chapter 352 The Breeze Does Not Lessen

"No need. I’ve already ordered my men to capture Xinxin," Jian Yanjun declared with an imperious wave of his hand, his presence overwhelming.

"What?"

"What?"

Jian Xi and Si Yuhuan exclaimed in unison.

"What’s wrong? She ambushed me, nearly killed me, and I can’t retaliate?"

At Jian Yanjun’s command, Xinxin was dragged into the room.

Covered in blood from head to toe, she was violently pushed to the ground, a complete wreck.

"Jian Xi! Si Yuhuan! Is this how you treat an ally!" Xinxin shrieked, on the verge of hysteria. She had just returned from the hospital. After seeing Si Junyan actually start to calm down following treatment, she had considered inviting the psychologist to meet her foster father. Instead, she was ambushed, brutally beaten, and dragged here.

Jian Yanjun slapped her with a hand as large as a cattail fan, nearly sending Xinxin flying.

She slammed into the coffee table, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and clutched her chest, pointing at Jian Yanjun. "King of Hell, are you really trying to kill me? This is China! This is a society governed by law!"

"Hilarious. Do I need to bother with laws when dealing with someone like you?" Jian Yanjun cracked his neck, a bloodthirsty glint in his eyes.

"Stop!" Jian Xi rushed over and hugged Jian Yanjun around the waist. "Fifth Brother, don’t be impulsive."

Xinxin screamed in fury, "Jian Xi! He’s a complete lunatic!"

Jian Xi snapped, "You shut up!"

Xinxin was genuinely terrified of Jian Yanjun and quickly fell silent. In the Andao Organization, who hadn’t heard of Jian Yanjun’s formidable reputation? Even though they walked different paths, she knew of his ruthlessness and domineering methods. Right now, she didn’t even dare to breathe too deeply.

Si Yuhuan let out a cold sneer. Indeed, it takes a scoundrel to deal with another scoundrel.

"Fifth Brother, listen to me," Jian Xi pleaded. "She genuinely agreed to help me find my child. Otherwise, I would never have allowed Secret Gate to operate so freely in China. And think about it—why was Xinxin so easy to capture, right?"

Although Jian Yanjun appeared brutish, he possessed a sharp intellect. Hearing Jian Xi’s words, he raised an eyebrow. "Little Sister, don’t be afraid. As long as your Fifth Brother is alive, I won’t let you suffer any injustice. No matter who it is, I’ll fight for you, even if it costs me my life or our entire Ace unit. I swear I’ll get justice for you."

His voice boomed like a bell, resonating with an intimidating force. Even Si Yuhuan felt an inexplicable chill. This guy is clearly targeting me. These words are meant for me too.

"Don’t worry, Fifth Brother. If anyone dares to hurt Xixi, I’ll be the first to oppose them," Si Yuhuan stated, neither obsequious nor arrogant.

"Hmph!" Jian Yanjun snorted coldly, deciding to spare Xinxin for now.

Xinxin struggled to her feet, seething. "Messing with you Jian Family members is truly like hitting a steel wall! I don’t understand why my foster father is so obsessed with Haohan Group. Wouldn’t it be better to take a fortune and disappear?"

Her careless words sparked Jian Xi’s suspicion. "Are you sure your foster father is after Haohan Group?"

Xinxin nodded. "Otherwise, why would he go to such lengths to cooperate with Si Junyan?"

"Good thing I’m not as stubborn as him. If Secret Gate were managed that way, it would probably have been wiped out long ago," Xinxin said, her dissatisfaction with her foster father evident in her tone.

Jian Xi turned to Wang Hao, the leader of their Ace unit. "Please ensure Miss Xinxin returns safely. As for today’s events, Miss Xin, I hope you won’t hold it against us."

"An eye for an eye. Consider it a debt I owed you," Xinxin responded.

Jian Yanjun clenched his fists. "You venomous woman! What nonsense are you spouting? I nearly died at your hands!"

"Fifth Brother... I’m sorry." Jian Xi felt a pang of guilt.

"What are you talking about? We all serve different masters. Getting injured or killed is part of the job. We live life on a knife’s edge; this isn’t child’s play. This little scratch is nothing! With Old Fourth around, I won’t die."

Having stared death in the face at the ’gate of hell’ countless times, Jian Yanjun didn’t easily take such matters to heart.

Xinxin watched the sibling affection with such envy and jealousy, her eyes nearly rolled into the back of her head. Some people are born princesses, destined for different fates. It’s like the saying: "Some are born in Rome, while others are born to be mules."

Jian Xi said softly, "Thank you for your trouble. Please escort Miss Xin back." She was, in effect, asking her to leave.

Xinxin, still fuming, retorted, "No need, I can leave on my own."

Si Yuhuan’s lips curved. "As it happens, I’m free. I’ll escort you."

Xinxin was overjoyed. "If Director Si is offering, then that’s much better." Her eyes roved over Si Yuhuan’s form.

Jian Yanjun raised his arm, itching to punch the woman straight into the ground to stop her shameless flirting.

"Fifth Brother!" Noticing Jian Yanjun’s rising anger, Jian Xi quickly grabbed his wrist. "I’ll help you back to your room to rest."

"Her..." Jian Yanjun started.

Jian Xi cut him off, correcting, "Si Yuhuan is no longer my husband. He’s my ex-husband!"

"Whoever he flirts with, or who flirts with him, has nothing to do with me." She watched them leave, her fingers tightening into fists, a forced smile on her lips as she spoke with feigned indifference.

"Alright, alright. If you don’t care, then I won’t meddle," he grumbled. "This injury was all for nothing, then. I thought..."

"Fifth Brother, what are you muttering about?" Jian Xi asked.

Jian Yanjun waved his hand dismissively. "It’s nothing. Go get some rest. I’m really tired too."

After settling her Fifth Brother in his room to rest and arranging for a private doctor to look after him, Jian Xi, exhausted, had just collapsed onto her bed when a knock sounded at the door.

She dragged herself up, annoyed, and opened the door. Seeing Si Yuhuan’s handsome face, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Don’t think I didn’t see Xinxin giving him several suggestive looks as she left.

"Don’t misunderstand," he said quickly. "I only escorted her out to try and get some useful information."

Jian Xi eyed him up and down, then sneered, "And you were so thoughtful, finding doctors to treat her and sternly instructing them not to let any scars remain on her face."

"I had no idea Director Si was such a considerate person!"

"To think, I was your wife for years, and when I left, I had to sneak away in disgrace. Comparisons truly are odious, aren’t they?"

Jian Xi crossed her arms over her chest. "Get out!"

Si Yuhuan slipped an arm around her slender waist, guiding her back into the room. "Let’s talk inside. We don’t want to disturb anyone."

Jian Xi pushed him away. "Take your filthy hands off me."

She was genuinely furious now.

Instead of getting angry, Si Yuhuan chuckled. "Am I to understand that my dear wife is jealous?"

"Get lost! Who’s your ’dear wife’? I’m your ex-wife!" Jian Xi lifted her chin coldly. "Now, tell me, what valuable information did your little ’honey trap’ get you?"

The enemy was targeting Si Yuhuan and his Haohan Group. This whole affair was no longer just about rescuing Mingming.

"She said she’s never seen her foster father’s true face; he’s always hidden behind a screen."

"What?" Jian Xi frowned.

"Furthermore, this foster father of hers seems to travel frequently between W Country and China."

"He’s been targeting me from the start. Thinking about it, I’m the one who dragged you into this mess."

Jian Xi was silent for a moment. Is he trying to take the blame? To lessen my guilt? For some reason, her mood improved a little.

Jian Xi pursed her lips. "Xinxin couldn’t possibly have been raised by him, could she?"
