Chapter 334: Chapter 332: The Turnaround Came Too Fast
Jian Xi’s eyes fluttered open to a world of white.
The scent of disinfectant wafted through her nostrils, causing her to cough involuntarily.
Wan Yu immediately rushed in to offer her water. "How are you? Are you alright? Do you have a headache?"
Jian Xi shook her head.
"Why am I here?"
Shouldn’t she have been kidnapped by Si Junyan?
Wan Yu clicked his tongue. "Well, you’ll understand once you see for yourself."
「The hospital room temporarily converted into an interrogation chamber.」
Xinxin’s hands were firmly tied behind her to a wooden plank. Her body was battered and bloodied, her head hanging lifelessly as blood dripped from the corner of her mouth.
She sneered coldly, "I never imagined I’d fall into your hands, Shang Fu. If you have the guts, then kill me."
Xinxin’s gaze lifted, fierce and wild.
Even as she suffered under harsh torture, reduced to a prisoner, she remained proud. Her venomous eyes were fixed on Si Yuhuan, who stood by with an indifferent expression.
"The resemblance is uncanny! But you’re even more handsome than he is! A fine figure too. Such a pity that you’re a lover at heart. Otherwise, you could have been my man. HAHAHA—"
SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!
Shang Fu’s palm, like a giant fan, lashed out fiercely.
After several blows, Xinxin’s face was swollen like a pig’s head, her once pretty face turned grotesque and frightening to behold.
Wan Yu took one look from the outside and could not help shivering.
Jian Xi pushed the door open and entered.
Upon seeing her, Si Yuhuan immediately stood up.
Shang Fu nodded in greeting, "Miss Jian."
Jian Xi nodded politely back at him, then glowered fiercely at Si Yuhuan. "You’re doing well."
She’d been played!
Had it not been for Wan Yu telling her, Jian Xi would have had no idea that Z Group could be so easily persuaded to act, all thanks to his hidden involvement.
She wondered how she could have casually ended up here.
His guidance!
But thanks to his guidance, her life was spared. Otherwise, she might have been the one hanging there, beaten black and blue.
"Glad you’re okay," Si Yuhuan said, ignoring Jian Xi’s grinding teeth. He looked her up and down, visibly relieved.
Xinxin, meeting Jian Xi for the first time, gave a sinister sneer. Her voice was like a specter. "Jian Xi, Miss Jian, I never imagined we’d meet like this. But it’s too bad for you; your child is in our hands now. Do you dare kill me?"
SLAP!
Shang Fu delivered another palm strike. "You weren’t given permission to speak. Shut your mouth."
PTUI!
Xinxin was not intimidated, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Shang Fu, enraged, raised his arm again.
"Don’t beat her to death," Si Yuhuan commanded.
Veins throbbing in anger, Shang Fu proclaimed, "Just wait. Once this is over, I will dismantle your bones piece by piece."
Xinxin scoffed coldly, completely dismissive of him, supremely arrogant.
Jian Xi had to admit she admired this female assassin; even in such dire straits, she still held onto her haughtiness.
"Xinxin, the second-in-command of Secret Gate. Who would have thought that to save Si Junyan, you’d risk your life! Such a sentimentally devoted woman!"
Suppressing the urge to vomit at the sight of blood, Jian Xi took a step forward. The resolve in her eyes instilled fear in Xinxin.
Over the years, the number of people who had died by her hand was not few. Yet Jian Xi stood before her as if she had lived for centuries, her eyes deep and unflustered, her anger tangible, searing Xinxin’s soul.
Jian Xi grasped her chin, staring coldly at her ravaged face. "You were wrong about one thing. I dare to kill you! And I will certainly kill all of you! But you wouldn’t dare harm my son. If he gets hurt, I will have every one of you buried with him!"
Xinxin clenched her teeth. Overwhelmed by this presence, she couldn’t utter a word.
"No wonder Si Junyan fears both of you so much—cunning and ruthlessly heartless!" Xinxin was frantic with anger. How had Si Junyan managed to drag her into this, making her take the fall for him, playing her part in his escape plan, only to get herself caught?
"Out with it! Where could Si Junyan possibly hide?"
Saint Seymour had been sealed off. No matter his skills, there was no way for him to escape.
Jian Xi was certain that Si Junyan was right here.
"Want to know?" Xinxin taunted.
Jian Xi raised an eyebrow.
Xinxin laughed crazily. "Over my dead body!"
"You!"
Si Yuhuan came over and pulled Jian Xi’s hand. "Don’t get angry at her. Since she’s so tough, let’s see how she handles Z Group’s methods. I refuse to believe that her mouth will remain so tough."
Shang Fu cracked his neck. "Stupid bitch, this is Saint Seymour, not China. I can take my sweet time playing you to death."
ARGH—
Screams and cries of pain came from behind.
Si Yuhuan led Jian Xi by the hand and walked out. Each step he took was incredibly firm, offering an inexplicable sense of security.
「After they came out.」
Jian Xi shook off his hand.
"I’ll admit you were prescient this time."
She hadn’t expected that in the game of hunter and prey, she was Si Junyan’s actual target.
It was foolish of her to panic. With so many people protecting Si Yuhuan, how could anything happen to him?
It was only her, alone and without Wang Hao by her side as he’d been lured away.
That was the real danger.
Si Junyan had calculated this precisely and intended to take her down.
Unexpectedly, Si Yuhuan was one step ahead, having already placed Z Group’s men by her side, preventing Si Junyan from finding an opportunity.
"It’s a shame that Si Junyan managed to escape," Si Yuhuan frowned, slightly dissatisfied with this outcome of his counter-plot.
Jian Xi watched him hopping around energetically and even saw Shang Fu brutally interrogating Xinxin. She couldn’t help but sneer, "Putting on an act."
"I was truly hurt, just not as badly. And if I hadn’t deceived even you, would Si Junyan have resorted to this risky move to come here?" Si Yuhuan’s points all made sense.
Jian Xi, for a moment, didn’t know what to say in return.
This man’s mind, schemes, and machinations were always top-notch.
She hadn’t expected to be caught like a turtle in a jar, only thinking of direct confrontations. After all, she was still too green.
"And the result?" Jian Xi scoffed coldly. "You’ve only caught Xinxin."
Si Yuhuan’s dark eyes stared intently at her. "Haven’t you noticed anything unusual?"
"Isn’t it just that she was betrayed?" Jian Xi asked.
Si Yuhuan’s lips curved into a smile as he lightly tapped Jian Xi’s head. "So clever."
Jian Xi couldn’t help but frown. Who did he even learn these gestures from? So annoying!
"Enough nonsense," Jian Xi said. "She was betrayed and captured. Despite heavy torture, she still hasn’t disclosed Si Junyan’s hideout. She’s a tough one. In my opinion, capturing her was pointless."
Jian Xi’s mind was in disarray. She forced herself to stay calm. Only by remaining calm would she have a chance to catch Si Junyan and rescue her son.
"Her silence now doesn’t mean she will never speak."
"What do you mean by that?"
「Night fell.」
Everyone had gone to sleep.
Someone quietly slipped into the room where Xinxin was detained.
It was dim and reeked of blood inside.
The man accurately found the keyhole.
He released the handcuffs and ropes binding Xinxin’s arms.
"Those shameless bastards dared to treat you like this! Utterly disgraceful!"
Xinxin stumbled, almost falling to the ground, but the man caught her slender waist. "Are you okay? How do you feel? Can you still walk?"
