Chapter 331: Chapter 329 Ghost Hunting Operation
"He’s not dead. Living quite carefreely."
Jian Xi didn’t want to explain the specifics to Li Bin. She simply made a rule for him: from now on, any purchaser who could provide information would be offered the limited edition, regardless of age or social status.
Wan Yu had reminded her.
Besides faith, the most powerful force in this world was purchasing power. Many wealthy ladies and socialites would go to great lengths to get their hands on a limited edition. With their help, it might just be possible to achieve twice the result with half the effort.
After giving her instructions, Jian Xi returned to Fuyuan Official Residence. She collapsed onto the bed, her head aching in turmoil. Just then, Si Yuhuan called.
"You’re really heartless, aren’t you? I just had surgery, and you left me behind to return to your country?"
Clutching her temples, Jian Xi answered impatiently, "If Director Si’s brain has issues, he should have the doctors take a look at that too while they’re at it. Don’t come to me with your nonsense; I don’t treat psychiatric problems."
"Jian Xi, do you really have to talk like that?"
"How else should I talk? If it weren’t for marrying you, would I have offended Si Junyan? Could he have used my son’s life to blackmail me? Now that my son’s life hangs by a thread, what do you expect me to do? Smile and make nice with you? I can’t do it! The fact that I haven’t killed you is my greatest act of mercy."
Si Yuhuan was rendered speechless by her rebuke.
Finally, it turned into a helpless sigh. "I’m sorry."
"I don’t need your apologies," Jian Xi said coldly.
"Then at least let me in, right?"
Jian Xi ran to the window and drew back the curtains. Below, Si Yuhuan stood in a white shirt and black suit trousers, imposingly handsome. His physique was even more perfect than Fu Shengyuan’s, a streamlined figure that all women would dream of.
Si Yuhuan looked up.
Their eyes met.
Jian Xi’s fingertips tightened on her phone. "You haven’t fully recovered. Why have you come back?"
"Open the door."
Jian Xi gritted her teeth and pressed the open button.
CLICK.
The main door opened.
Si Yuhuan was furious. The fingerprint lock at Fuyuan Official Residence no longer recognized his fingerprint. Jian Xi’s actions were indeed ruthless and unfeeling. It also made him feel quite humiliated.
"I brought some chicken soup with wontons. Come and have some."
Jian Xi was indeed hungry; her stomach rumbled as she went downstairs. Seeing him again, she hadn’t anticipated this situation. In the past, Jian Xi would have told him to get lost. Now, drained of energy, she went to the dining table, opened the thermal container, and began eating the wontons.
"I heard Zhang Yaxuan is back?"
Jian Xi looked up.
So he had come all this way for that reason.
"Yes."
"You issued a worldwide manhunt. Very decisive and efficient."
Jian Xi ignored him.
Feeling his pride wounded, Si Yuhuan took a deep breath. "Aren’t you afraid that by cornering Si Junyan, he’ll have no way out and drag you down with him, using the child as a sacrificial pawn?"
BANG!
Jian Xi slammed her spoon onto the table.
Si Yuhuan knew she was enraged.
"I was just joking."
"That joke is not at all funny!" Jian Xi gritted her teeth, her hateful gaze fixed on him.
Si Yuhuan felt as though he had committed some terrible, unforgivable mistake. It wasn’t even his child, yet he, an outsider, was more concerned than the actual father.
Thinking this, Si Yuhuan also began to seethe. "If you’re so capable, go find Zhang Yaxuan! Make him take responsibility for your son! Make him fight tooth and nail to save your son! Why are you taking your anger out on me?"
Jian Xi lunged forward and grabbed his collar. She wanted to say something but held back. "Bastard! Si Yuhuan, you’ve always been a bastard! You asshole!" Her eyes were red.
Si Yuhuan felt wronged; he hadn’t done anything. Yet, he couldn’t bear to see her so utterly grief-stricken. He softened his tone, "Alright, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have said that. Don’t worry, I’ll help you find your son."
Jian Xi broke down. "Why did I have to meet a jinx like you! Without you, I wouldn’t be so miserable! Si Yuhuan, why can’t you just completely disappear from my world even after I’ve left you? I really, really hate you."
Feeling stifled, Si Yuhuan harshly pulled her up from the floor and into his arms, apologizing repeatedly, "I promise, once this is over, I’ll leave your world and never appear again. You won’t have to worry about anyone harming you anymore."
Jian Xi was too tired. Exhaustion, coupled with the weakness from her recent childbirth, made her cry herself to sleep.
Si Yuhuan carried her to the bedroom.
The woman slept very restlessly, mumbling many things, but he couldn’t make out a single word. He felt as if a heavy stone was pressing on his chest, making it difficult even to breathe.
Si Yuhuan looked at Jian Xi on the bed, his brow deeply furrowed. Unconsciously, he reached out his long fingers to smooth her frown. Jian Xi murmured, "Yinyin, I’m sorry. I’ll definitely help you find your brother."
Yinyin? Who is Yinyin? Si Yuhuan raised an eyebrow.
His phone vibrated.
He tiptoed out to answer it.
Yan Qing reported, "Boss, your foresight is incredible. Si Junyan really is audacious. He just fled Q Country and immediately returned to Saint Seymour. He truly believes the most dangerous place is the safest. Our men have already locked onto him. When do you want to make a move?"
Si Yuhuan pondered for a moment, then asked, "Did he bring the child with him?"
"Hmm? It seems he didn’t!" Yan Qing grew anxious. "Could it be..."
"No! If the child were dead, he wouldn’t have the guts to operate right under our noses. To be so brazen and well-connected, it seems he truly has someone formidable backing him." Si Yuhuan’s cold eyes glinted with a calculating light. "If he wants to confront me directly, I’d respect him for it. But resorting to petty tricks behind my back? He deserves to die!"
He was determined to lay his plans, uproot them completely, return the child to Jian Xi unharmed, and give her the resolution she needed.
"Investigate his funding sources, the people around him, and block all his escape routes. I’m on my way."
"Director Si! You just had surgery! Do you have a death wish?"
Si Yuhuan stated coldly, "Do as I say."
Yan Qing had no choice but to comply. "Alright then."
「 」
When Jian Xi woke up, she found herself alone. That shameless Si Yuhuan, surprisingly, hadn’t taken advantage of the situation. It left her feeling somewhat unsettled.
She went downstairs and saw Wan Yu. For a moment, she was bewildered. Was Si Yuhuan’s visit yesterday just a dream?
"What are you standing there dazed for? Hurry up and eat. I’ve brought good news."
"What news?" Jian Xi immediately rushed downstairs, took Wan Yu’s hand, her eyes full of hope.
"Si Yuhuan has gone to catch the ’ghost.’ It’s a foolproof plan."
"Great! Where is he? I’ll go right now."
Wan Yu quickly grabbed her. "Si Yuhuan is worried that if you go, it’ll slow him down in catching the ’ghost.’ You should just wait here. He said if things go smoothly, you’ll see Si Junyan by tomorrow morning."
Hearing this news in the morning, Wan Yu was ecstatic. He actually started to see Si Yuhuan in a more favorable light.
"Okay."
Jian Xi ate her breakfast, though the food was tasteless to her. She prayed for everything to go smoothly.
The day wore on until evening, when Si Yuhuan called. She hadn’t felt this nervous answering his call in a long time.
As soon as the call connected, Jian Xi blurted out, "How is it? Did you catch him?"
