Chapter 737: Another... Beastmaster?
Hearing the news, a pleasant smile appeared on Nox’s face.
He grinned, looked at Nyx, and said excitedly, "Perfect timing."
"Well, that’s your clue to leave." She shrugged and took a step back as if knowing what he wanted to do.
Nox proceeded to activate [Demonic Wing], and a pair of massive black wings sprawled out from his back.
With his dark eyes and royal attire, he almost looked like a demon prince. Perhaps the only thing missing were the horns.
BOOM! With a powerful flap of his wings, Nox’s body shot into the air. The balcony beneath him cracked and formed several fissures.
His speed generated an intense wind current as his body broke through the sound barrier and vanished into the sky.
The guard flinched back, but Nyx remained calm, simply staring at the sky where Nox had disappeared.
"Mistress, what are we going to do about the balcony?" the guard asked.
"Have some of the builders get it fixed," Nyx replied.

High in the air, Nox paused and scanned the horizon for the southern bay. From this vantage point, the world below looked small. Far in the distance, he spotted a trail of smoke curling into the sky.
’There. That must be the pirate vessel causing trouble.’ With a powerful thrust of his black wings, Nox accelerated toward the bay, the air howling past him.
Swoosh!
As he neared the coast, the scene became clear.
He saw several pirate ships—more than expected—surrounding a large merchant vessel bearing the flag of a neighboring kingdom, one Nox recognized as imperial.
The merchant ship’s sails were torn, and parts of its deck were on fire. Pirates swarmed around it like vultures, some clambering onto the ship with ropes and grappling hooks while others bombarded it with arrows and handmade firebombs.
The desperate crew of the merchant vessel put up what fight they could, but they were clearly overwhelmed.
Nox’s eyes narrowed at the sight. He was... he was amazed by the scene.
It felt exactly like the movies he watched back on Earth. Why did he feel so excited to fight these people?
’And they brought an entire fleet,’ he thought. Without hesitation, he dove into action.
There was no need for dialogue. The best approach was to get rid of them as quickly as possible, even though Nox genuinely wanted to observe them more.
When he was directly above the pirate fleet, Nox unleashed his fury. With a sweep of his arm, he cast Shadow Oblivion, and a barrage of dark blasts shot downward.
Boom! Boom!
The blasts slammed into the nearest pirate ship, carving a hole through it. Wood exploded and water rushed in as the ship began to sink.
Before the other crews could understand what was happening, Nox fired off another volley.
Crack–BOOM! Two more ships were shattered by bursts of black fire.
"Dang, who in the fuck is that?!"
"Monster!!!"
"Save yourselves!!!"
"I told you this raid was a mistake..."
"Aim for his wings! Bring the bastard down!"
The pirates screamed in panic as the sea rushed up to swallow their vessels.
In the span of a minute, most of the pirate ships were in flames or sinking beneath the waves. Chaos erupted among them. Those still on their feet yelled in terror, some diving overboard to escape the inferno engulfing their ships.
The merchant crew watched in astonishment as their attackers fell into chaos. Hope sparkled in their eyes as they realized help had come—from a dark-winged figure hovering above.
Although they knew nothing about him, they could tell he wasn’t an enemy.
Nox hovered over the bay, wings beating slowly as he surveyed the results. Broken planks and debris littered the water’s surface. Several pirates flailed in the sea, clinging to broken wood.
The merchant vessel, though damaged, was still afloat. A few pirates had managed to climb onto its deck, taking hostages among the crew. Nox noted this and clenched his jaw. He would have to free those hostages soon.
But before he could swoop down to finish them, the waters below churned. A deep rumble vibrated through the bay, sending ripples across the surface. Nox’s heightened senses screamed a warning. He halted, eyes scanning the water for the source.
BOOM!
With an explosive splash, something huge burst out of the sea, raining water everywhere. A massive sea shark emerged, its jaws easily large enough to bite a ship in two. The creature’s gray body gleamed with scale-like hide, and rows of razor-sharp teeth jutted from its open mouth. Riding atop this monstrous shark was a young figure.
Nox’s eyes widened in surprise. A teenage boy with wet blond hair—no older than sixteen—stood firmly on the shark’s back, one hand gripping a rope attached to the beast. He wore a torn pirate captain’s coat several sizes too big, the hems flapping wildly in the wind. His other hand clutched a curved blade that caught the sunlight.
"A kid?" Nox muttered in disbelief. For a heartbeat, he was taken aback by the sight. A boy commanding a sea monster of that size... there was only one explanation.
’It can’t be... I must be mistaken.’ Nox’s mind spun as he took a closer look at the shark.
That... that was a shark! A living, breathing one at that. How could it be so tamed? Humans could subdue wyverns, horses—but a shark this massive?
Could... could this person be a beast tamer as well?
The realization sent a thrill of caution through Nox. Terra never said he was the only beast tamer—obviously there was his father too—but this person...
Beast tamers were rare, individuals with the power to subjugate and control monsters. He’d never met another until now.
"There’s only one way for me to confirm if he’s really a beast tamer." Nox’s eyes flashed sharply.
