Chapter 792: Praying for Good Appraisal
Thankfully, the sudden disappearance of sound only lasted for a few seconds…
It was such an alarming experience.
After all, the old man’s shallow breaths and even the beating of his own heart disappeared.
‘That was shocking…’ Shane thought.
There was actually a faint chime from the bell, and that signaled the return of the sound. What was even more surprising was the fact that he even felt like he could hear a lot better now!
It also felt good on his body.
[ Silent Requiem Bell: A bell created by a monk-cult to sever sound and vibration. When rung, it creates a Silence Zone ( 10-meter radius ) for 30 seconds, nullifying sound-based detection, communication, and any usage of Survivor Skills.
Recharge: 1 hour.
Warning: Overuse may cause the wielder to temporarily lose their sense of hearing. ]
Shane felt excited after seeing it.
An item that could stop others from using skills was definitely something that he needed.
“A silence field… This is terrifying.” His mind already leapt to dozens of scenarios.
If he wanted to, he could use this to sneak into hostile shelters, stop enemy casters, and cut off communication from the inside.
Placing it down with care, Shane turned his attention to the vial of liquid.
The glass container itself was sealed by what seemed like a paper talisman.
Inside, the liquid could be seen boiling with bubbles while also frosting the glass over with traces of crystalline ice. It should have been impossible for something to be both frozen and boiling at the same time, yet it remained stable.
When Shane lifted it, his hand instantly numbed with cold, then burned with blistering heat, then returned to normal as if the vial were testing him.
‘What the heck… This feels incredible.’ Shane thought as he couldn’t help but feel impressed.
[ Essence of Duality: A condensed alchemical miracle formed from binding two opposing elements: Everfrost and Emberflare. Can be consumed, granting a one-time evolution to the user’s elemental affinity (fire/ice or hybrid). Alternatively, it can be used as a catalyst in forging or enchanting, granting weapons or barriers the dual element effect of fire and ice.
Extremely volatile. Mishandling or unsealing improperly may cause a catastrophic elemental explosion. ]
“Ohh… This one’s dangerous… but also priceless.” Shane muttered to himself, as he knew that obtaining Affinity to certain elements should be impossible unless you have the Talent for it.
However, it seemed that this potion would forcefully give you the talent or physique to have elemental affinity. This was incredible!
The shopkeeper, silent all this time, finally spoke…
“You see their worth, don’t you? They’re not cheap…” He said.
Shane looked back down at the remaining seven items, the scroll, deck of cards, pocketwatch, glasses, folding fan, book, and pouch of stones. His heartbeat quickened. If the first three are this good… what the hell are the rest hiding?
Shane’s gaze drifted back to the counter.
He knew that he probably couldn’t buy everything here, so he needed to make sure that he’d get the best out of them.
‘Anything similar to the Lootkeeper’s Timepiece would be good too…’ Shane thought.
He then looked at the dusty plaques below the items…
They were barely visible because of the dust or dirt, but with a wipe from his spare cloth, Shane was able to see their price.
“Is this price still the same?” Shane asked, believing that the shopkeeper might’ve changed prices already.
The first item, the Void Shard Fragment, had a price of 35,000 Points!
Furthermore, it was actually the cheapest, and it was confirmed by the shopkeeper.
“Yes… That’s still the price. It’s the cheapest I have, so don’t be too surprised.”
Shane wryly smiled upon hearing this. ‘Cheapest? That means the others…’
He then looked at the rest of the items and wiped the dust off their plaques.
The Silent Requiem Bell was actually 41,500 Points.
The Essence of Duality’s price marked at 70,000 Points!
This was so impressive in so many ways…
Shane’s heart skipped.
It must be remembered that he had just purchased a Spirit Pulse Obelisk’s materials and blueprint for 52,000 Points. He couldn’t help but compare its price to these small items.
‘So this really is a Secret Shop… it bleeds you dry if you’re not careful.’
But what about the others? He leaned in closer.
He then swiftly checked the Scroll.
[ Absolute Sealing Scroll: A five-use artifact capable of sealing anything within a 5-meter radius, living or non-living. Works even on high-level undead or objects. Duration: 72 hours. ]
The price of this Scroll was only 37,000. Still, the fact that it could seal anything for 72 hours was definitely a terrifying ability.
Thankfully, it could be used for five times!
The Deck of Cards, on the other hand, had really caught Shane’s attention.
[ Gambler’s Fate: A cursed deck of 52 cards. Each draw produces a random effect: boons, banes, or catastrophes. Effects range from healing allies, summoning misfortune, to attracting zombies or explosions. Can only be used once per day. High risk, high reward. ]
‘What the heck? Who would want this item?’ Shane thought. After all, it was simply too dangerous.
However, he recalled someone with incredible luck! Perhaps, with that Talent, it wouldn’t be too bad to have this cursed deck!
Then, Shane looked at the pocketwatch and felt a little nervous and excited at the same time.
After all, there was a semblance of the Lootkeeper’s Timepiece from it.
However, he didn’t want to be disappointed, so he took a deep breath to calm his emotions. Still, he knew that whatever it was, it must be a good item since it was being sold here.
Nonetheless, Shane was still praying.
‘Alright… even if it’s another 5 times loot, I’ll be fine with that. Having another one would be awesome… Or maybe even if it can only give me 3 times loots, but if I can use it multiple times a day… Then that’s cool too.’ Shane thought to himself as he finally picked up the pocketwatch, hoping for a good appraisal result.
