Chapter 1387: Chapter 1372: Is There Still a Way Out?

In this cave, there’s no concept of day or night. Song Xiaodong, feeling tired from blood loss, yawned after looking around, and said, “I’m tired, I’ll sleep before we talk.”

Qingluan glared at Song Xiaodong and said, “You’re still in the mood to sleep? We need to find a way out!”

“There’s no rush. We’ve got to wait until I recover from my injury before planning our next move. Otherwise, if we find a way out and encounter that giant snake again, how will we handle it?”

Qingluan immediately said, “Ah, you’re right. At the very least, we can still return to where we came from.”

“There’s always a solution. Since we managed to get in, there’s definitely a way out. Come on, let’s sleep.” With that, he lay down on the ground.

“If you want to sleep, just sleep. Why are you calling me? I’m not sleepy.”

Song Xiaodong chuckled and said, “I don’t sleep well alone. I can only sleep soundly if I hold you.”

“Get lost!” Qingluan lifted her foot to kick Song Xiaodong.

“Hey hey, you’ll reveal too much.” Song Xiaodong shouted loudly.

Qingluan quickly withdrew her leg, looking at Song Xiaodong with both shame and anger, and said, “You’re really a shameless scoundrel.”

Song Xiaodong said with an aggrieved look, “I was kindly reminding you, yet you scolded me back. Do you have any sense of reason?”

Qingluan fiercely said, “I am a Witch. Why should I reason with you?”

“Alright, you’ve left me speechless. Forget it if you don’t want to accompany me. I’ll sleep by myself.”

Song Xiaodong fell into a deep sleep; he had no idea how long he slept before waking up, feeling much more refreshed mentally and physically. The wound on his leg had recovered pretty well too.

Song Xiaodong’s silver needle technique is fundamentally based on the special True Qi within his body. Even without stitching the wound with silver needles, the True Qi was always at work within him. So, even though the effect might be slightly inferior to the silver needles, the rate of healing was incomparably faster than usual.

Qingluan wasn’t nearby, but Song Xiaodong wasn’t in a rush. He stretched his arms and legs and hopped on one leg to the creek, where he washed his face.

He caught two fish and ate them as sashimi. Qingluan came back, her face still looking quite displeased.

“Couldn’t find a way out?” Song Xiaodong asked.

Qingluan nodded and said, “I also checked in the middle, but there weren’t any holes or the like.”

Song Xiaodong said, “Actually, you should keep searching in the higher parts of the cave wall. We entered through an opening; there might be another passage to somewhere else.”

“Alright, I’ll go take a look.” Qingluan’s eyes lit up and she swiftly dashed away.

About an hour later, Qingluan came running back excitedly and said, “I found it! I found an opening, and there’s sound coming from there. We might be able to get out.”

“Sound?” Song Xiaodong frowned slightly.

Qingluan said excitedly, “Yes, it sounds like birds chirping. But I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to return, so I didn’t go to check it out.”

Song Xiaodong’s face twitched slightly and he said, “Qingluan, have you considered that it took us a good ten minutes to be dragged down by that giant snake? Its speed was really fast, and even though there may have been twists and turns, it was definitely leading downward all the way. If my guess is right, we should be over a thousand meters underground.”

“So what?”

“Over a thousand meters underground, and where we came in was a valley. Do you think the outside world is really a normal place?”

Qingluan’s face changed immediately and she said, “Well… it could be a deep canyon, couldn’t it?”

Song Xiaodong’s face darkened and said, “A canyon over a thousand meters deep would surely be very famous. This place, though remote, is still not completely uninhabited. How could such a large canyon go undiscovered? So… the place you’re talking about must still be underground, and the creatures there are probably peculiar subterranean ones. We don’t know how dangerous it might be.”

“Hmph, whether it’s dangerous or not, I don’t want to stay in this desolate place any longer. It’s too deserted here; I want to go over there.”

Song Xiaodong said, “I didn’t say not to go. I’m just giving you a heads-up so you won’t be caught off guard by danger.”

Qingluan rolled her eyes and said, “Hmph, don’t forget, I’m the expert here. You’re the injured one, so stop talking to me like that, ok?”

“Alright, alright, our great expert, let’s head out.”

Qingluan led Song Xiaodong along the cave wall for a while, then pointed to the mountain wall above, saying, “The opening is there.”

Song Xiaodong looked up and could only see a dark, small opening, seemingly just big enough for a person to crawl through.

“Can you get up there?” Qingluan asked.

Song Xiaodong said, “If you help me a bit, my leg injury should heal faster.”

“No problem.” Qingluan said, grabbing Song Xiaodong’s arm and then, with a powerful throw, flung Song Xiaodong onto the mountain wall.

“Whoa! That’s how you help me?” Song Xiaodong shouted, grabbing hold of a protruding rock on the wall to propel himself towards the opening.

Qingluan followed up quickly and said, “Feel the air over there; isn’t it fresher? And there’s also sound coming through.”

Song Xiaodong listened closely and nodded, saying, “Indeed, there are living creatures over there.”

Qingluan blinked, proudly saying, “I was right this time, wasn’t I?”
