Chapter 966: Chapter 955: No Entry for Fools and Dogs

Situ Qingfeng wanted to meet Xu Ruolan, but it was blatantly obvious that he was not a welcome guest.

If not for the fact that she hadn’t rejected him outright before, Xu Ruolan wouldn’t want to see him at all. Situ Yuanhua’s elder brother, Situ Qingfeng—his appearance never signified anything good.

Although she knew he was coming, Xu Ruolan had no intention of preparing any kind of reception. If he wanted to come, so be it. But if she actively arranged to greet him, that would mean she’d lost.

Thus, when Situ Qingfeng arrived at the lobby of Xu Corporation with his entourage, he looked around for ages and still couldn’t find Xu Ruolan anywhere. Not a single person came out to welcome him. Everyone ignored him—or rather, they simply didn’t even recognize him.

“Xu Ruolan is this rude?!”

Situ Qingfeng felt that he was at least somewhat of a prominent figure, yet Xu Ruolan clearly did not take him seriously at all. For this visit, out of basic courtesy, that woman should at least come down to make an appearance.

But reality was worlds apart from Situ Qingfeng’s expectations. Xu Ruolan had no intention of welcoming him. In fact, her impression of the entire Situ Family was quite poor. Especially since Situ Yuanhua had previously even kidnapped her to threaten Ning Fan.

Whenever she recalled that incident, Xu Ruolan’s mood soured terribly. And now this Situ Qingfeng suddenly showing up to interrogate her made her feel that he and Situ Yuanhua were just two sides of the same coin. Or perhaps they really were blood brothers—cut from the exact same cloth.

“Sir, how can I assist you?”

The receptionist maintained her professional smile as she addressed Situ Qingfeng, who was walking towards the desk.

“I want to see Xu Ruolan.”

Getting straight to the point, Situ Qingfeng said impatiently.

“Do you have an appointment?”

In other words: no appointment, no entry. Did he seriously believe anyone could casually meet their CEO?

Clearly, no one here recognized Situ Qingfeng, and the receptionist had no intention of giving him any special treatment.

Situ Qingfeng widened his eyes and, with a touch of darkness to his tone, continued speaking: “I just spoke with Xu Ruolan on the phone earlier!”

“But are you certain you have an appointment? If there isn’t one, we aren’t permitted to let anyone up randomly. I hope you can understand!”

The receptionist didn’t care about his claim. Without a proper appointment, there was no way she’d let him upstairs.

Situ Qingfeng clenched his fists. He had lived so long without facing such humiliation, and now his breaths grew heavier: “You can confirm with your CEO!”

“Apologies, our CEO is currently in a meeting and unavailable. If you don’t have an appointment, please schedule one and come back next time.”

“And what if I insist on going up?”

Situ Qingfeng’s expression darkened as hostility erupted from him. A mere receptionist dared to block his path? Did she really think he was someone harmless?

Today, Situ Qingfeng was determined to meet Xu Ruolan. If he didn’t see her, he would not leave.

The receptionist’s face suddenly twisted with panic, and she immediately called out loudly, “Security!”

“What’s going on here? Causing trouble, are we? Do you even know what kind of place this is?!”

Several security guards quickly surrounded the scene, but before they could approach Situ Qingfeng, the two bodyguards he had brought along intercepted them.

The two bodyguards fixed icy gazes on the guards, and the atmosphere seemed to freeze. The surrounding temperature dropped noticeably.

“Have Xu Ruolan come see me. I told her I would return to meet her. If she thinks she can escape by using such tactics, she’s sorely mistaken!”

Situ Qingfeng shouted coldly, escalating the tension.

Upon realizing there was a commotion, all the security guards in the lobby surrounded them as well.

But Situ Qingfeng’s two bodyguards were no ordinary men. They stood steadfastly behind him—like towering mountains shielding him.

“Honestly, this whole issue is your fault!”

Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out from beyond the lobby doors.

Everyone, including Situ Qingfeng, turned toward the source of the voice and saw Ning Fan standing casually at the entrance, with a faint smile hanging on his face.

Situ Qingfeng’s expression changed drastically. His body tensed up instinctively—how could he not tremble in excitement when the man who killed his brother was right in front of him? His eyes brimmed with murderous intent, but he forcibly held himself back.

Even though that brief flash of killing intent only lasted a moment, it did not escape Ning Fan’s keen eyes. The saying “enemies meet, and sparks fly” described this situation perfectly.

“Brother Ning, these people are here to stir up trouble!”

One of the security guards called out, confused as to why Ning Fan seemed to be siding with Situ Qingfeng.

But Ning Fan shook his head and approached, saying to everyone, “Isn’t it often said that guests should be treated with courtesy? Isn’t that the basic principle?”

“But…”

“What ‘but’? Doesn’t this person here resemble a guest to you?”

Ning Fan looked at Situ Qingfeng, his lips curving into an enigmatic smile. He showed nothing on the surface. No one could tell what he might be thinking deep down.

Situ Qingfeng snorted coldly in response. He now merely felt that Ning Fan was putting on an act or perhaps genuinely didn’t recognize him. Otherwise, how could Ning Fan dare to say such things? But if Ning Fan realized who he was, would his attitude remain the same?

Yet, in the next moment, Ning Fan’s words left everyone shocked.

“In any case, this all boils down to our oversight. If only we’d placed a sign outside the door that said, ‘No idiots or dogs allowed.’ That would have saved us so much trouble, wouldn’t it?”

Nobody had expected Ning Fan to say something like that. Everyone froze with wide eyes.

Initially, the security guards thought Ning Fan was standing up for Situ Qingfeng, but they were completely caught off guard when his words took an abrupt turn, disguised as mockery aimed directly at Situ Qingfeng and his men.

After recovering, the guards burst into laughter: “Well said, Brother Ning! You’re absolutely right—this is indeed our mistake. If we’d put up a sign like you said, none of this would’ve happened!”

“Though, to be fair, what if they couldn’t read?”

Ning Fan smirked, and the atmosphere in the lobby instantly shifted, erupting into peals of laughter.

Situ Qingfeng’s face darkened to a shade of iron. His entire body trembled as he finally lost control and pointed at Ning Fan, roaring furiously: “Ning Fan, have you said enough?!”

“Oh? You know who I am, do you? Funny thing is, I don’t remember you being worth knowing at all!”

Ning Fan replied with a smile, narrowing his eyes in amusement.
