Chapter 1348: Chapter 1349: Miss, the brakes have failed (5)
Zhang Yuksheng was momentarily stunned, "Sound? Where’s the sound coming from?"
An Yiqing’s brows furrowed slightly as she glanced around, "No, there was definitely a sound just now."
She could clearly hear some sort of snapping sound earlier, barely noticeable unless one has specially trained hearing.
Zhang Yuksheng was spooked by An Yiqing’s remark and planned to pull over and check the car.
To his horror, as he pressed down on the brake pedal, he realized the car continued speeding forward without any sign of slowing down or stopping!
"What’s happening? Why isn’t the brake working?!"
Zhang Yuksheng’s face turned pale as a sheet. He wasn’t concerned about his own safety but An Yiqing, the person he cherished most, was also in the car!
"The brakes aren’t working?" An Yiqing asked calmly.
Zhang Yuksheng stomped on the brakes several more times, followed by a few attempts with the accelerator. In the end, he despairingly realized whether it was the brake or the accelerator, the speed remained locked at 120 mph!
They could forcefully stop by crashing into a bridge abutment, but at 120 mph, they’d suffer far more than just minor injuries!
"Miss, what should we do?! The car won’t stop!" Zhang Yuksheng gripped the steering wheel tightly as cold sweat trickled down his forehead. It didn’t matter if he died, but An Yiqing couldn’t be harmed!
"Brother Yusheng, keep going forward, don’t stop! Scrape against the guardrail slowly! Get the whole side of the car against it and use the friction to decelerate!"
Zhang Yuksheng nodded firmly, both hands gripping the wheel as he sharply turned it right, trying to steer the car towards the guardrail.
However, before the car could get close, a black Mercedes suddenly shot out from between the car and the guardrail, fiercely crashing into An Yiqing’s car.
Startled, Zhang Yuksheng quickly turned the wheel left, barely avoiding the impact from the Mercedes.
Just as Zhang Yuksheng was about to breathe a sigh of relief, a white van suddenly charged up from the left, joining the Mercedes in a pincer attack against his car!
"Brother Yusheng, let me drive!"
Not yet recovered from the shock, Zhang Yuksheng found himself suddenly on the passenger side, while An Yiqing, who was in the back seat, now sat at the wheel, eyes fierce and hands firmly on the steering.
"Miss..." Zhang Yuksheng exclaimed, worried about An Yiqing risking herself.
"Brother Yusheng, hold on tight!"
Before his words were fully out, Zhang Yuksheng felt the world spinning, desperately gripping the armrest beside him.
The screeching of tires filled the air, and when Zhang Yuksheng regained his senses, their car was airborne.
Air... airborne...?!
Zhang Yuksheng gaped at the sight outside the windows as their car leapt over the white van, flying directly over it.
"M-Miss!" He exclaimed in astonishment at An Yiqing, incredulous as she drove the car like a plane.
An Yiqing didn’t reply, her pale rosy lips pressed into a straight line. Her delicate face showed no expression, maintaining an air of indifferent calm, devoid even of anger.
But Zhang Yuksheng knew that this was truly when An Yiqing was at her angriest.
He pitied the two vehicles outside, no matter who they were, Zhang Yuksheng silently drew a big cross in his mind for them.
