Chapter 1745: Chapter 1745: Unable to Die (5)

“My life.” The big brother suddenly spoke firmly, “If you can cure Xiaoba, my life is yours.”

“And mine.”

“And mine…”

The other two also swore.

“Alright.” Yang Ruxin nodded, “It’s a deal.”

“What if you can’t cure her?” The boss frowned, looking at Yang Ruxin.

“If I can’t cure her, then so be it.” Yang Ruxin shrugged.

“You…”

“Is the doctor you find guaranteed to cure her?” Yang Ruxin looked at the boss.

The boss immediately slumped his shoulders and shook his head.

“So, you have no right to bargain with me.” Yang Ruxin stood up straight, “Let’s go, take me to see Xiaoba.”

The boss didn’t argue anymore, he reached out, pulling the second brother and Xiaoliu with him as he walked out.

The place where the three little beggars were staying was in a rundown temple located in the northwest corner of Beijing. It was said that originally eleven little beggars lived there, all of whom were abandoned children taken in by an old beggar. But later, two died and one ran away. Only eight were left now, including five boys and three girls. They didn’t even have names, just arranged by their age.

The oldest was the boy caught stealing the purse, called the boss. The other children called him big brother, but he was only twelve years old, and the youngest was Xiaoba, a girl who was just over four years old.

When the old beggar was around, he could at least get the nine children fed enough to barely survive, but two months ago, the old beggar died, and the boy, being the boss, had no choice but to take on the responsibility of caring for his younger siblings.

They managed to get by initially, sustaining themselves through the days.

However, a few days ago, Xiaoba suddenly fell ill with a fever. They tried using the old remedies taught by the old beggar to reduce her fever, but it had little effect, and since they couldn’t get enough to eat, Xiaoba’s condition kept worsening. Last night she was even delirious with fever. They decided to find a doctor, but without Silver, they couldn’t secure one. This led to the earlier incident where the boss took his two younger brothers to steal Silver.

In the ruined temple, four children dressed in ragged clothes were wiping away tears around an unconscious little girl. One of the older girls was continually dripping water into the little girl’s mouth.

“Big brother…” One of the sharper eyed children saw the boss returning and rejoiced, “Did you get the Silver?”

The boss shook his head.

“Big brother, Xiaoba is going to die.” The girl giving water to Xiaoba began to cry.

“Isn’t she still alive?” Yang Ruxin walked in, unable to help but frown at the poor condition of the temple. However, she didn’t let it bother her as she approached and crouched down, placing her fingers on Xiaoba’s wrist, thin like a bamboo stick.

Everyone was dumbfounded, collectively looking at the boss.

“She is a doctor.” The boss explained, “She can save Xiaoba.”

All the children immediately looked at Yang Ruxin with hope.

Yang Ruxin felt quite pressured being looked at by so many children like that.

However, the pulse on that wrist was so faint, so faint she could barely feel it.

After a long time, she released the wrist, took out silver needles and administered two acupuncture points, then took out a medicine pill, broke it into two halves, put one half in Xiaoba’s mouth, and handed the other half to the boss: “At this time tomorrow, give her this half of the pill to eat. That should basically be enough, but surviving is just not dying. Recovering health will require gradual nourishment…”
