Chapter 1032: Paying the Price
Lisa and Kent fought once again, and the deck had become their arena.
Vampire Queen Lisa had also started using his Essence to keep up with Kent... The Chaos Immortal was simply too strong.
On the other hand, her Blood Supply was draining every exchange.
Bam!
Lisa attacked with her Blood Knives once again, but Kent caught her strike. However, Lisa’s Blood Magic wrapped around his spear.
The moment he tried to pull it back, she detonated them in a burst of energy that rocked the ship.
Boom!
Kent was forced to release his weapon, but that was only for an instant. With a wave of his hand, the spear dissolved into raw Chaos and reformed in his grip.
"Cute trick..." he said. "Now let’s see how you handle this."
He slammed the spear’s butt into the deck. From the point of impact, a dome of swirling darkness expanded outward...
It was not a Dark Spell but a Chaos Spell that was using the power of corruption!
Lisa felt the sudden pull from the point of impact... It was as if the gravity was twisting, the time was bending, and the sound was muffled into nothing.
Inside this dome, Kent’s attacks came from everywhere. He formed his spear and struck from impossible angles.
But Lisa had faced worse illusions.
"This is it?" Lisa taunted.
She closed her eyes as she let her other senses take over.
Since the Marshall Academy had the Chaos Arts Tower, one of the 16 towers that Vale brought back, she was already familiar with their energy.
’I can do this...’
Soon, the source of Chaos Energy was revealed to her. She felt the subtle tremor in the deck beneath Kent’s steps... She even felt the movement of the as Kent used his spear to attack...
When the spear came again, she caught it with her bare hand.
It was a powerful move as blood streamed down her arm, but she didn’t let go.
Her eyes snapped open, and she pulled Kent toward her, driving her knee into his chest.
Thud!
The force sent him flying back, smashing through the ship’s mast.
Bang!
Kent landed in a crouch, coughing once before laughing. "You are... dangerous."
Lisa stepped forward... "If you’re only that strong... Then you shouldn’t be dreaming of controlling this realm."
Kent, however, just laughed after hearing this.
"Hahaha... Do you think I didn’t know that you only have a dozen or two Immortals on your side? The 300 Chaos Immortals who had arrived several days ago were only the first batch... More of us would come here. Even if the Shadow Immortal was already an Earth... or maybe a Sky Immortal... We would still prevail."
Kent’s words were certainly alarming, but before Lisa could answer, the surrounding Arcane Energy became restless.
Soon, a deep, resonant hum rolled out from the city below, shaking even the airship beneath them.
The Time Manipulators had already gathered enough energy for their true Forbidden Spell.
From the highest spire of the Immortal Tower, a burst of light erupted!
The light bent unnaturally as if it were absorbing all the energy around...
Kent felt it instantly. "What—?"
The radiance expanded in a silent wave, and the moment it touched the nearest Chaos Immortal, his form froze!
It wasn’t petrification, but it was a spell that could stop the target!
It was not just his body; his very existence seemed to lock in place.
And then... in just a few breaths, it shattered.
Kent, Nyssa, Eryn, Gyn, and all the other Chaos Immortals were shocked as soon as they saw it.
A Spell that could actually eliminate an Immortal like them existed in this realm! Even their souls couldn’t escape and were shattered together with their bodies!
It was such a terrifying ability, and Kent wanted to order everyone to move away!
However, he was already too late!
One by one, seven more fell victim to the spell.
"Noo!" Kent shouted in horror...
Time itself shattered their bodies into dust, their Divinity collapsed back into the void, and not even a single trace of them was left!
It was a clean, precise slaughter—eight Chaos Immortals who bravely dashed into the tower were erased in an instant.
"Impossible..." Eryn whispered with her eyes wide.
They had survived for a long time within the Shattered Expanse... At most, there were only one or two deaths in every decade or so because of the skirmishes brought by the lack of resources...
Kent no longer had the time to play with Lisa... His expression was dark as he didn’t expect this to happen.
"A Forbidden Spell... here?"
Lisa smiled faintly. "Told you... you should’ve been more careful."
But even as the glow faded, the Tower’s aura began to weaken.
The great rune barrier and formation circle that had surrounded the city for days flickered once... twice... and vanished.
Liora’s strained voice reached Lisa through their telepathy...
"It’s done... but the Tower is spent. We can’t hold the city any longer."
Lisa sighed as she heard this.
She had done her part... And only two airships still circled above. Furthermore, their weapons were already aiming to bombard their Tower.
The advantage had been taken, but the battle was far from won.
Without the Tower’s power, they would be overrun in minutes.
Kent straightened, the grin returning to his face. "Looks like your little trick burned through everything you had."
Although it was painful to see eight Chaos Immortals disappear just like that, the battle must continue for their sake.
This time, however, Lisa didn’t answer.
She reached out, and the air around her warped as shadows coiled around her... In the same instant, she, Liora, Cyper, and Elysia dissolved into darkness, vanishing from their spot without any obstruction.
By the time the Chaos Immortals realized what had happened, the four had already reformed close to Vale’s territory, the Shadow Domain.
They lost the Luminara Kingdom... But eight Chaos Immortals had been slain in this battle, and Lisa knew that this would warn the Chaos Immortals from acting rashly once again.
