Chapter 807: Chapter 34: Drastic Upheaval in the Royal Capital (Part 2)_4
As the flames soared, the shadows surged in kind. Black ropes returned to the shadows, followed by the beast army’s shadows shattering like knife blades cutting through. In an instant, the pungent smell of blood spread, the bodies of the beasts fragmented like shadows, their whole forms sliced into chunks, and the craving beast army’s force collapsed instantly.
Rakael swallowed nervously, hearing the old knight beside him speak, his tone as steady as when discussing official matters, elegant and calm.
“Have you contacted everyone?”
“No success, the enemy executed pinpoint strikes, seems they don’t want my wax figures to move.”
“Then go to St. George District and find Knight Sara, I’ll handle the east.” Gafri said, “By the way, that was a joke just now. I have no intention of taking work into retirement, besides, what would I do with so much money anyway? Young gentlemen need to buy hats, suits, and walking canes, and gifts for their favorite girls, while old gentlemen need only a newspaper, a pot of tea, and some topics for idle chat with old friends.”
He spurred his horse forward, the hooves of the black horse cutting a bloody path through the flames, his cloak blending into the night. The collapse of the beast army angered a mightier foe, a giant ape covered in white fur leaped over the corpses, wielding the Pope’s scepter to strike. Gafri drew from his waist a bizarre weapon, resembling a hunter’s butcher knife folded from the hilt into an arc.
The arc unfolded with Gafri’s motion, the sharp serrated edge facing the beast. His strike was like a bat’s wing cutting through the night, with no visible trajectory, only seeing the knight and the giant ape brush past each other, with the latter’s right arm flying off with the weapon. The ape’s head slid off its neck, and pungent beast blood gushed like a fountain.
“Therefore, after I retire, I might as well return to my old trade, as a hunter. That way, during weekly chats, I’ll have some new topics to boast about my latest prey.”
He sheathed his weapon, as he rode past the giant ape’s corpse. Knights in black armor and on black steeds emerged from the mist, silently following the Shadow Hunter Knight, like a black cloak gathering in the fog. Shadow-like powers extended from Gafri’s side, resonating with Rakael’s Manifestation Domain. The starlight armor amplified their manifestation range, allowing the two knights to guard the entire east sector, serving as the front line of defense against the beast and undead incursions.
“You truly are a gentleman.” Rakael turned, assembling his subordinates, “Everyone, follow me!”
His attendant Vesa Curry came hurriedly, bloodstains on his helmet still fresh: “Knight Rakael, the Second Prince’s forces have joined us!”
“Your Highness? You—”
Another cavalry unit arrived, their leader indeed the Second Prince Jackson. He nodded to Rakael: “No need for formalities, I saw the battle here and came to join. I saw Knight Macrow rushing to the palace, my mother’s likely fine. Charlie and Grey should be near Knight Sara, no worries for now. I leave my troops under your command, be cautious of ambushes, enemy concentrations at key locations are massive.”
Ambush in Shadow Mist City? Could they even control the beasts and undead within the barrier, is Situ Yi powerful enough to manipulate such a vast army of monsters like puppets?
Rakael suppressed his unease, replied: “Understood, Your Highness! The commander is at the palace, recklessly barging in will interfere with his battle. The Dawn Knights will be responsible for restarting the clock tower, now follow me to consolidate our lines and prevent beast spectral invasions into the royal city!”
Jackson spoke not another word, merging with the troop like an ordinary soldier. Rakael felt the burden on his shoulders heavy and frightening, he glanced at the sky while rushing.
In the Blue Church District, giants formed from buildings were walking, near White Stone District was an eerie silence, above the Inner City District, various divine weapons fell like rain. These were signs of battles among the strongest, and at this moment at least three Creator Realm Mages were unleashing their power!
