Chapter 535: Chapter 35: The Return of the Demon_2
Buzz, buzz, the phone rang—it was Ah Ce. Mo Yuankai glanced at his watch, finding it strange that there had been no movement. He subconsciously answered the call.
“Hello? Ah Ce?”
The tone of Gongsun Ce on the other end of the phone was relaxed.
“It’s me, it’s me. Big brother, don’t worry. I just went out for a walk this evening, bumped into some troublemakers who now can’t even move.”
“Ah?” Mo Yuankai said.
“What, can’t I go for a walk?” the younger brother laughed. “I’ve finished my walk, now I need to get down to business. I haven’t fought in a while and feel uncomfortable, just so happens those losers from Aorus Corpse are conspiring in the Thorn District. I’m in a good mood today, I’m going to smash their setup.”
“Have you lost your mind?!” Mo Yuankai exclaimed. “Weren’t you planning on getting out?!”
“I was planning on getting out, but now someone said they think I perform quite well. I thought about it, wondering if I should do something for my fans?”
A loud female voice interjected beside Ah Ce: “I’m not your fan.”
“Miss, be nice, I’m on the phone with a friend, do not interrupt.”
“Impudent fool.”
“If you say so.”
Mo Yuankai couldn’t help but burst into laughter. What was this guy doing? Why could he always create such a humorous and ridiculous atmosphere at any time? Always playing around in serious situations, making things absurd…
It made people feel reassured, though.
“Hey, what are those losers up to?”
“Nothing new. They use your glorious past to wave their flag of justice, pin the blame on me, it makes it easier for them to seize power. I’m super annoyed, so I’m going to blow them all up!”
Because he felt annoyed. Because he couldn’t stand it. Because he couldn’t sit still. So he had to take action.
It was actually that simple. It had nothing to do with whether he had the strength or not. How could he forget this? He didn’t become a hero because he was Invincible…
It was just because he felt the city was too messed up, too chaotic, and he couldn’t stand it.
Mo Yuankai grabbed his cup of herbal tea and drank it down. He tapped on his phone a few times, and a beam of light rose from somewhere in the Thorn District, quickly flying to the window and hovering at the top of the building. It was a red sports car, their favorite to drive around in.
He pushed open the window, the night’s wind and rain howled loudly. Mo Yuankai jumped into the driver’s seat, casually holding the phone with his shoulder.
“Are you walking with the girl to wreck the place? That’s so low. How about I drive you instead?”
·
Onowell stood in the torrential rain, covered in mud, looking disheveled. Qin An stood behind him, holding an umbrella, looking at this old teacher with sympathy.
“Let me buy you a cup of tea, going out in the storm without an umbrella must be tough.”
“Cough, cough!” Onowell coughed twice. “Thank you, sir. I… sigh! I did bring an umbrella. This was a nasty prank.”
“A prank? I get it,” Qin An nodded understandingly. “Teaching is not an easy job. Coincidentally, I was also ditched today.”
“What happened to you?” Onowell asked with a bitter smile.
“I had hired a young guide, planning to meet him this afternoon, but couldn’t contact him no matter what,” Qin An squinted his eyes, smiling. “Probably overslept! Just remembered now. This kid!”
He handed the umbrella to Onowell and silently merged into the rain. The principal hadn’t even had the chance to turn around when two bright lights pierced through the rainy night, a flashy red sports car stylishly stopped in front of him, not a single drop of water on him.
The young man with black hair was in the driver’s seat, his gray-haired friend and a strange girl from the Empire in the back seat. Mo Yuankai held the steering wheel with one hand, waving at him.
“Fancy meeting you, Principal! We’re off to fight, wanna join us?”
“If you’ll give me a gun,” Onowell raised his eyebrows.
“Principal, rest assured, the last thing we’re short of in this car is arms!”
The four people in the car introduced themselves, as this time there was a newcomer in the group.
“Let me introduce myself! I’m Mo Yuankai, usually… right, a non-combatant responsible for gathering intelligence, and also Ah Ce’s driver!”
“You gather intelligence?! How could you even make up such nonsense, big brother?!”
“I’m Onowell Slorock, a teacher, responsible for cleaning up these two’s messes.”
“Principal, could you put down that rocket launcher first?”
“I’m Qin Qianbai, just an ordinary high school student.”
“I can’t keep up with this banter, spare me. By the way, is there a live broadcast? Let me hear what Aorus is saying.”
“What’s there to listen to, deliberately making yourself angry?” Mo Yuankai said.
“Yeah, the angrier I get, the stronger I become,” Gongsun Ce laughed. “I’m so excited, I haven’t felt this angry in a long time. I’m about to explode with anger, I fucking can’t wait to see if he can push me further.”
The red sports car zoomed off, heading towards the church in the pouring rain.
Inside the church, the lights were bright, and an ambitious speech was reaching its climax.
·
Tonight, the city of the Sky Kingdom was almost half dark, all the ordinary residents had gone to the safest places they knew to take refuge. They could smell danger; everyone knew a big battle was about to begin. They gathered at schools, went to government agencies, moved to underground shelters, watching the same scene on their phones and TVs.
The church meeting was being broadcast live across the city.
Evidence, evidence, evidence. Videos, photos, reports, testimonies from others. The cruel truth was assaulting everyone, exposing the true face of the seemingly harmless clown.
