Chapter 319: Chapter 317: Conveying Feelings Across Space [2 Updates]

Jane Spencer listened to Maya Spencer’s question and smiled, saying, "I have something quite important to talk to you about."

After saying that, she took a good look at Maya Spencer. She wanted to see what else this woman had, besides that face and that bad temper, that made her brother so hopelessly in love with her, and Lillian Morris divorce her?

"Oh!" Maya Spencer responded with a half-squint, hearing Jane Spencer say it was something important.

Then, Jane Spencer smiled meaningfully at Maya Spencer, thinking to herself that she was indeed alluring. If she were a man, she might not be able to resist Maya’s charm, either.

The girl saw Jane Spencer’s eerie smile and couldn’t help but furrow her brows slightly. She couldn’t figure out what important matter Jane Spencer was referring to, but she was certain it wasn’t work-related. When Jane had her sign the contract, she was all smiles, not like this, loaded with emotion.

However, as Jane Spencer didn’t say anything, Maya didn’t ask. Curiosity killed the cat, and after all, she felt a bit guilty facing Jane Spencer.

Beside her, Jane Spencer noticed the girl lightly frowning and the cold little face. Biting her lower lip, she smirked and asked, "Maya, don’t you ever feel guilty seeing your big sister?"

With that question, Maya’s heart tightened. She thought, could Liam Spencer have told her sister something, and is she here to get something out of her?

Even though she felt guilty inside, her face remained calm and indifferent. She gave a lukewarm smile and asked, "Big Sis, do I look like someone who would feel guilty?"

Jane Spencer looked at Maya’s little fox-like face, took a deep breath, leaned forward toward the table, and with a cold laugh said, "Maya, do you think men like that shameless look of yours?"

"Big Sis, you must be joking, besides your brother doesn’t like me. He’s just obsessively possessive," Maya pretended not to understand what Jane was implying.

Jane saw her play dumb and reached out her right hand, pinching her chin, and said earnestly, "Lillian wants to divorce me, because of you."

When Jane mentioned divorce, Maya couldn’t stay calm. Her eyelids quickly drooped halfway as she stared at Jane’s face, seemingly judging the truth of her words. But seeing Jane’s mocking eyes, she couldn’t help but swallow, almost certain Jane wasn’t lying, and Lillian really did mention divorce.

Maya never expected things to develop to this extent. She found Lillian’s actions inexplicable, but once she thought of Ella Turner, everything started to make sense.

Thinking about it made Maya feel even more guilty, so she avoided eye contact a couple of times and awkwardly laughed, saying, "Big Sis, what are you saying? I don’t understand."

Jane saw the girl’s evasive eyes and hesitant attitude and knew there was definitely something going on between her and Lillian. Therefore, she smirked coldly and said, "Maya, stop pretending. You must be secretly thrilled, finally snatching Lillian away too, repaying the grievances you suffered in the Spencer Family."

What puzzled Jane was that Maya spent all her time around Liam Spencer, and she could almost keep track of Lillian’s whereabouts. They hadn’t even met a few times, so where did this affection come from? She was curious, curious how they managed to communicate emotions across distances.

Maya looked at Jane’s aggressive demeanor, took a deep breath, and calmly said, "Big Sis, there might be some misunderstandings. You and Brother Morris should sit down and talk. I will also talk with Brother Morris. As you can see, I have no contact with Brother Morris."

If Lillian was divorcing because of her, Maya would never allow that to happen, especially since the situation at the Morris Clan Group had just started to improve. He couldn’t get a divorce now; otherwise, people would definitely speculate wildly about the Morris Clan’s fate.

"Brother Morris, Maya, you sound so intimate calling him Brother Morris, you don’t even call him brother-in-law anymore? Our divorce hasn’t happened yet!" Jane’s words were full of sarcasm.

At this moment, Maya felt that even if she jumped into the Nile River, she couldn’t clear her name. She didn’t expect so many things to happen after the bookmark incident came to light. She looked at Jane, wanting to speak but holding back, and in her anxiety, forgot to console Jane with her pregnancy news so that Jane wouldn’t overthink it.

"Big Sis, such good timing! Aren’t you spending time with your husband, yet you have the mood to dine with Maya?" Suddenly, Liam Spencer appeared from behind Maya, his hands in his pockets as he cheekily kicked away the chair next to Maya and casually sat down.

"Liam, why are you here?" Maya jumped in shock at Liam’s sudden appearance, but also felt reassured.

She knew Liam wouldn’t let Jane misunderstand her and that she really was clueless about their divorce issue.

The man glanced at the girl’s astonished expression and said nonchalantly, "At this hour, if you’re not at home having a proper meal, shouldn’t I come looking for you?"

Across the table, Jane frowned tightly at the couple in front of her, thinking that Liam was interfering for no reason. She was so close to accomplishing her plan, and Maya was already showing signs of panic.

However, from her recent reaction, just fanning the flames a little more should have the desired effect.

While Jane was mulling over these thoughts, Liam took a deep breath, raised the corners of his mouth, and smiled coldly at Jane before turning to Elijah Reed and saying, "Elijah, get to work."

"On it, BOSS." Elijah nodded at Liam’s instructions and began retrieving recording devices and hidden cameras from the surrounding guests.

In just a few minutes, Elijah managed to round up six reporters who were hiding in the restaurant. Seeing Liam’s cocky demeanor, none of them dared to make a sound, let alone report anything.

Seeing this, Jane’s face darkened with anger. She glared at Liam furiously, yet there was nothing she could do about it.

At this point, Maya realized she had walked into a trap. Big Sis had never intended to have dinner with her; she wanted to get evidence of Lillian’s affair through her. Looking at the woman in front of her, she felt a chill, her scheming went deeper than hers.

Then she turned to look at Liam. Regarding Liam, she had an indescribable feeling. He understood people so thoroughly; whatever others did, he could predict. Such a person was also quite dark, no wonder she could never outsmart Liam.

The man saw Maya’s surprised little expression, shook his head helplessly, then stood up from the chair, raised his right hand, and clasped it on the back of her neck, lifting her up.

Afterward, he slowly turned to Jane and said, "Sis, if you want a divorce, just get one. Why make such a fuss? Aren’t you tired?"

After saying that, Liam took Maya away. His big hand was still clasped on the back of her neck, feeling the coolness of her neck, he gently rubbed it to provide her with more warmth.

Maya felt the gentle pressure of the man’s hand, took a deep breath, raised her head cautiously, and glanced at him, fearing he might be angry.
