Chapter 325: Chapter 323 It’s Fine As Long As We Have You [3 More Releases]
The girl’s lips were soft, and although it was just a brief kiss, it tasted sweet and lovely.
For a moment, Maya Spencer was stunned. When she realized Liam Spencer was whispering sweet nothings and stealing a kiss from her, she quickly withdrew her hand and scolded, "Are you crazy? You want a piece of that illness too."
The man looked at her flustered appearance, raised his right hand, and touched her chin, saying, "As long as it’s you, I want it all."
Faced with Liam’s candid show of affection, Maya blushed, turned her face to the window, her heart pounding as if it would explode. She didn’t dare look directly at Liam, and even feeling his breath made her nervous.
Liam’s overtures were as good as a confession, only without uttering "I like you."
Maya had been confessed to by Henry Reid before, but the feeling then was completely different from now. She clearly remembered that even when Henry had forced a kiss on her, she remained calm as if his feelings had nothing to do with her.
But being confessed to by Liam, she was almost terrified, inexplicably nervous, inexplicably wanting to avoid it, and she could sense that he didn’t mistake her for someone else.
She thought perhaps it was because she always knew Henry liked her, but with Liam, they were enemies, so she was not used to it.
Looking at the girl’s flushed face, Liam burst into laughter. Seeing her ears turn red, he smiled even more happily, purposely leaned close to her when Maya wasn’t paying attention,
In an instant, Maya’s body quivered, goosebumps rising all over.
Then, face flushed, she stammered, "You... what are you doing! Just drive properly."
After saying that, she pulled her left hand from under her thigh and immediately covered her ears to prevent another sneak attack from him.
Watching her defensive behavior, Liam laughed even more happily, so he turned sideways again, got close to her, and playfully bit her hand.
At this moment, Maya exploded, raising her little hand to push his face away, saying, "What are you doing?"
Seeing the girl’s terrified look, Liam touched her small face and said indifferently, "What? Shy? There’s nothing between us we haven’t done."
"Can you have some decency?" Maya scolded impatiently.
Normally, she wouldn’t blush at all, but she just could not stand his lovelorn gaze and those shamelessly sweet words, which didn’t align with their usual interactions, especially after several big fights, her emotions and mindset hadn’t completely adapted.
"I just need you, what do I need decency for?" The more embarrassed Maya became, the more Liam wanted to tease her, doing so with utmost seriousness and solemnity.
Beside them, Maya was utterly speechless at someone’s shameless actions, and as she glanced at his serious demeanor and recalled his earlier words, she suddenly wanted to laugh.
So she raised her little hand to cover her face, unable to help laughing as she looked out the window because Liam’s shameless demeanor was truly awful.
Even though she hid her laughter well, Liam still noticed it because the vehicle had entered a tunnel, and the glass window reflected her smile.
Seeing Maya laugh, Liam’s mood was skyrocketing. At this moment, having gone through the false pregnancy incident, both of them temporarily forgot about Lillian Morris.
Looking at the girl’s snickering face, Liam couldn’t help but swallow, he longed for her,
so after returning home, he summoned Sister Taylor.
In the living room, Maya casually glanced at the study room on the second floor, rolled her eyes indifferently. She wanted to see whether Liam would still be as happy after hearing the truth from Sister Taylor, knowing that the miscarriage of their previous child also involved his fault.
Although Maya had just laughed secretly inside the car, it only represented her amusement and did not mean that all past grievances with Liam were written off. The resentment between them still remained, her stay by his side was still merely to protect Lillian and her uncle.
Inside the study room, Liam looked at the expressionless Sister Taylor and calmly said, "Sister Taylor, please tell me about Maya’s illness and its history."
Sister Taylor, seeing his calmness, said coolly, "Young Master, let’s forget about it! It’s not a pleasant thing to hear and won’t do any good."
"Maya’s past, I have the right to know." He said with great determination, because he was heavily involved in her past sorrow.
Looking at him determined to push forward, Sister Taylor swallowed and said, "Three years ago, the child was lost, not Miss’s fault, but yours. If you hadn’t quarreled with Miss, she wouldn’t have drunk that bottle of liquor and consequently lost the child."
"You thought Miss was ruthless and selfish, but you didn’t realize her helplessness. You’ll never know how cold and scared she was lying alone on the operating table. She cared more about that child than anyone else. After being taken back to the Hanson Family, her emotions were extremely unstable, often waking up from nightmares. Twice on rainy nights, she attempted suicide, which I discovered during room checks. She said she had headaches and that someone was going to harm her child. If you had seen how she thought everything she saw was her child, you would know how deep her guilt was toward that child."
"Later, I took her to a hospital. The doctor said her psyche had been severely shocked, with severe depression, accompanied by headaches."
Sister Taylor’s description was calm, as though she were recounting events from a past life. She talked about these past events with tranquility and composure. She didn’t want to be sentimental, didn’t want anyone to feel sorrow for the past, since Liam had promised that no matter what became of Maya, he wouldn’t abandon her.
So she only hoped he would keep his promise, not despise Maya, protect her well, and no longer bully her.
Though Sister Taylor’s description was simple, it seemed like an emotional disaster film played out in Liam’s mind. He had seen Maya have a headache once, and witnessed her having a bout of depression, so his mind was equipped enough for imagination.
He thought of Maya lying alone on the cold operating table, biting her lower lip, tears endlessly streaming as she endured the separation from the child, and his heart ached.
He even thought that perhaps during the operation, Maya might have cried until she passed out; in fact, she had fainted from crying before the operation even began.
He knew, after losing the child, Maya would have refused to eat or drink, standing by the window alone or sitting on the bed in a daze, relying only on IV drips for nutrients. None of this guesswork by Liam was wrong.
He could also imagine Maya returning to the Hanson Family, surely in low spirits.
